Make the Most out of Your Window Treatments Part 3
Making the most of your window dressings: tip number 4
Don’t be afraid to spend big. When buying for your home, it generally makes more sense to invest in better blinds early on.
We like to follow the old adage, buy nice or buy twice. Higher quality shades will have a longer product life, are generally more durable, easier to clean and maintain and comes with a very long warranty period. 10 years for our products. Ultimately this gives you the peace of mind that your shades are built to last.
If longevity is not an issue and perhaps you wish to resell the house, having quality blinds can help increase the resell value of your property. Particularly when high quality shades are used as they are more likely to be in better shape when you finally do wish to sell your house. This makes higher quality shades a potentially better investment than lower quality shades as cheaper blinds are more likely to have been replaced before the sale or suffered too much wear and tear.
Tip number 5:
Every room in your house fulfills a different purpose and is unique in the aesthetic it needs to create and the feelings it needs to convey, your bathrooms and kitchens generally need to feel clean, neat and sterile. That same atmosphere does not work well for your living room or bedroom however, the same colors and texture palettes will make these rooms seem bland and un-organic.
Your window dressings can be used in this regard. Spice things up in your house by having different window treatments to suit different rooms. After all they were designed with this concept in mind. For example, roman shades and drapes are generally better suited to living rooms than bathrooms. Other blinds are better suited to different window dimensions or the design concept of the rest of the room. Vertical blinds and panel blinds are designed specifically for longer and wider windows that open up entire stretches of wall. Rainbow blinds or shadow blinds are better suited to more modern design concepts. On that note, we do not believe that there really is a one size fits all solution to window dressings but if you are truly looking for a “can’t go wrong” treatment, roller blinds and wooden blinds are extremely versatile and can be customized with sizes, fabric colors and textures to a wide variety of different environments and aesthetics.
